Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)

When Need is Great

The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) is a federally funded grant awarded to undergraduates with exceptional need. Your eligibility is automatically determined when you receive your financial aid package.

Awarding

  • The maximum SEOG award amount is $400 per year, per student
  • To qualify, your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) must be no greater than $200
  • The SEOG award is limited to financial need – need is determined by subtracting your EFC from your Cost of Attendance (COA)
  • If you receive additional scholarships during the year, the SEOG may be reduced or eliminated if those awards reduce or exceed your financial need
